Seller Protection
Shipping a $1,500 graphics card to a stranger should feel like handing it across a counter, not like a leap of faith. Here is everything standing between you and the horror stories.
Protection at every step
Not a promise at the bottom of a page — mechanisms built into each stage of a sale.
When you list
Your listing states its terms in structured form — condition grade, handling time, return policy — so there's never an argument about what was promised. The moment someone buys, we snapshot the entire listing: a buyer's claim is always judged against exactly what they saw at purchase, never against a later edit and never against their memory of it.
When you sell
The buyer's payment is captured and held by SiliconExchange before you're ever asked to ship. No bounced payments, no "payment pending," no cash no-shows. If an accepted offer goes unpaid, the order cancels itself and your listing goes right back on sale — you owe nothing and do nothing.
When you ship
Before handover, document the exact unit: photos, serial numbers, test results, the packed box — uploaded as proof of condition right on the order, where the record freezes when you ship. Buy a discounted label on the order page or use your own; carrier tracking updates the order automatically either way, and orders of $750.00 or more always ship with signature confirmation.
If something goes wrong
A dispute is never decided on one side's word. You get 48 hours to respond — with a reminder at 24 hours — and your proof-of-condition uploads and the listing snapshot are the record we review it against. Valid claims are made right from the held funds; claims the evidence doesn't support are found in your favor and the funds release to you.
The things sellers actually worry about
Each one has a specific answer — not reassurance, a mechanism.
The buyer never pays
Unpaid checkouts and unpaid accepted offers cancel automatically and restore your listing. No fee, no action needed — a sale only ever begins once the money is actually held.
“That's not what the listing said”
The purchase-time snapshot settles it. Condition, description, photos, and your stated terms are preserved exactly as the buyer saw them — you can keep editing a multi-quantity listing without any risk to orders already sold.
“It arrived broken” — but it didn't leave that way
Your proof-of-condition uploads exist for exactly this. Serial-number photos, benchmarks, and packed-box shots, frozen at handover, are evidence no after-the-fact story can rewrite.
“It never arrived”
Delivery is confirmed by the carrier's own scan, not by anyone's word — and orders of $750.00+ require a signature at the door, which is also our evidence if a payment is ever contested with the buyer's bank.
The buyer goes silent
Silence can't strand your money. If the buyer neither confirms nor reports a problem, payment releases to you automatically 14 days after carrier-confirmed delivery (3 days after the scheduled date for local pickup).
A dispute lands anyway
You're heard before anything is decided, on a clock we publish. And a dispute isn't a mark against you: engage honestly and a claim that goes the buyer's way doesn't put your account in question — patterns draw review, not incidents.
Keeping your protection strong
- Keep the sale on SiliconExchange — the payment through checkout, the conversation in on-platform messages. What happens off-platform is invisible to us, and we can't protect what we can't see.
- Ship to the address on the order, with tracking. A label bought on the order page does this automatically; using your own label, enter the tracking number so the carrier record ties to the order.
- Document before you ship. Proof-of-condition uploads are optional, but they are the difference between your word and your evidence.
- Respond to disputes inside the 48-hour window. An unanswered dispute gets decided on the evidence that exists.
Pack it like it matters, too — our packing guides cover GPUs, full builds, and everything smaller, and an honest grade from the condition guide prevents most disputes before they start.
Both sides, protected the same way
The held payment that guarantees you get paid is the same one that guarantees the buyer isn't stranded — see Buyer Protection for their half. Ready to sell?
